PM launches Miyawaki Urban Forest in Lahore


Under his 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project, Prime Minister Imran Khan, today will inaugurate the world’s largest Miyawaki Forest on his visit to Lahore, press release.

A total of 165,000 plants will be planted in 100 Kanals areas. The planted tree will grow 10 times faster than normal trees owing to the unique Miyawaki technique, it is learnt.

According to the press release during this monsoon season, the government has planted 500 million saplings in the country. It was the largest monsoon tree plantation drive in the history of Pakistan.

Keeping climate change in mind, Imran Khan is more committed to renovating and restoring Lahore’s pollution-free and garden city.

In addition to the preparation of specific land for growing fast-growing urban forests, different varieties are being used at different growth rates. In different parts of Lahore, 53 Mayawaki forests have been identified at various places, which will help in reducing carbon as well as pollution in the city.
