After England defeat, what can Pakistan expect from the West Indies series?

After Covid-19 cases were reported in England squad, it was expected that Pakistan would perform well against the new and inexperienced side. It was a certain chance to beat England in the ODI series.

But the inexperienced side did what the cricket fans were not expecting. White-washing the strong and well experiment side was not less than a miracle. They proved that a well-thought-out plan is much better than a random plan.

The T20 series was a little bit different. In the first contest, the green shirts displayed what they should have shown in ODIs and the remaining two T20s. In the first T20, They were perfect in bowling, batting and fielding. However, in the remaining two matches, they fought but the lack of consistency pushed them to lose circle.

Stats from the ODI series give a holistic picture regarding the performance of each team.

Batting Performance

Babar Azam, a key batsman in the team, scored 177 runs with the highest score of 158. In two matches he scored 19 runs which show the dominance of England bowlers. The well in-form batsman of the year, Rizwan scored 90 runs with an average of 30 compels the fans to applaud the England bowling attack.

The performance of both openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq was not satisfactory. As an all-rounder, Shadab Khan also did not perform well. Sohaib Masood, a middle-order batsman with an average of 15 opened the tongues to question his performance.

In the bowling department, Haris and Hasan took six wickets each but their economy rate of 6.6 and 6.8 runs per over respectively is not a good sign for an international bowler. Two leading bowlers, Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi took three and two wickets respectively. However, their bowling averages were 43 and 68 which raises questions about their performance.

Pakistan in WI

Green shirts are camped in West Indies. They will face big guns and the in-form youngsters like Lendl Simmons, Evin Lewis, Andre Russell, Chris Gayle, and Nicholas Pooran.

These players are quite capable and aggressive. They can give a tough time to every team at any condition. They are the expert of limited cricket. However, handling them in a limited cricket will not be easy.

If Pakistan wants to defeat them in their backyard, they will have to eliminate the mistakes they did in England. They have to perform in all departments.
