Additional spectrum will significantly improve mobile and broadband service in GB, IT Minister


Minister of IT & Telecom, Amin ul Haque in a meeting with Governor Gilgit Baltistan Raja Jalal Hussain said, Gilgit Baltistan is an important part of Pakistan and talent here is not less than anywhere in the country.

Under the vision of Digital Pakistan, people in every corner of the country will be benefited from the digitalization in the country. For the first time, an additional spectrum for GB and AJK has been approved.

Projects for the provision of broadband and mobile service in all areas of GB and Baltistan are in pipeline however, broadband projects for Tourist spots are in consideration and will be started soon. Minister added

Federal Minister also said software Technology Park in Skardu, Hunza, and Baltistan will be inaugurated soon. The provision of a triple play service is also on the final stage and will be available very soon. Smart Policing project has also been extended to GB and almost 60%. Work on the project has been completed. The Federal Ministry of IT is funding NIC in Karakorum University.

Governor GB Raja Jalal Hassan said “Ministry of IT’s efforts towards Digital Pakistan are commendable. People of Gilgit and Baltistan also want to contribute to the digital world and we hope these projects of the ministry of IT will bring technological revolution to Gilgit Baltistan.
