Pakistan to host ICC mega event after 29 years

After a gap of 29 years, Pakistan will host the Men’s Champions Trophy in 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the schedule of all ICC mega-events from 2024 to 2031.

Last time Pakistan had host the 1996 world cup along with India and Sri Lanka. Also, Pakistan had to host the 2011 World cup but due to security reasons, many nations had refused to play in Pakistan.

Reacting to the announcement, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja said it was a matter of great pride and delight that the country would host the major ICC tournament.

According to the details, during the coming seven years, eight ICC mega-events will take place in different countries and continents.

West Indies and United States of America will host the T20 World Cup 2024 while Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in Pakistan. The T20 World Cup 2026 will be played in India and Sri Lanka while South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will host the ODI World Cup 2027.

The 2022 T20 World Cup finalists, Australia and New Zealand will host T20 World Cup 2028 while the Men’s Champions Trophy in 2029 will be played in India. T20 World Cup 2030 will be played in England, Ireland and Scotland while India and Bangladesh will host T20 World Cup 2031.
