A leading runs scorer in a calendar year in all format

Cricket, in its over-hundred year’s long history, has produced some unforgettable records. Due to its different formats, Cricket has become a unique sport. Every format has a different style in all departments bowling, batting and fielding.

We have three names of those batsmen who kept their forms alive throughout the year and registered that as history. Below are the three names who remained leading runs scorers in a calendar year in ODI, Test and T20.

2021 – Muhammad Rizwan (752) – T20

Muhammad Rizwan, a Pakistan Wicket-keeper-batsman, registered his name in a record book as he became a leading runs scorer in a calendar year in T20 format. During this year the right-handed batsman scored 752 with an average of 94. He also scored one century and seven half-centuries during the year.

2006 – Muhammad Yousaf (1788) – Test

The year 2006 is said to be the year of Muhammad Yousaf. During the year, Yousaf scored 1788 runs at an average of 99.33 and surpassed Sir Viv Richards. During that year, Yousaf scored 9 hundred which is a world record for most centuries in a calendar year.

 In that particular year, Yousaf also equalled the record held by former Australian batsman Donald Bradman, by scoring six centuries in successive Tests.

1998 – Sachin Tendulkar (1894) – ODI

Sachin Tendulkar had always stood as tall as Himalaya against fast bowlers. But during the year 1998, we see different Sachin Tendulkar. During that particular year, the “Little Master” had played 33 innings and he had scored 1894 runs with an average of 65.31. During that year Sachin also scored 9 hundreds in ODI.
